Southern Tug Hill Sno-Riders snowmobile rights

For decades the Tug Hill plateau has been groomed and maintained by a network of volunteers. For so many years the clubs were under funded and struggled to maintain area trails. There have been improvements and an increase in funding, however there’s a new registration process for next year, that will affect every person that rides a snowmobile in New York. Acting now will save you money and headaches, for next years snowmobile registration (2006-2007 Snowmobile Season).

A new, New York State Bill was signed into law by Governor Pataki at the end of Summer 2005. It was originated by the New York State Snowmobile Association (NYSSA) and is called the Snowmobilers Rights and Responsibilities Act (SRRA). This new law intends to increase snowmobile club membership, by establishing a two tier registration. If you are a member of a snowmobile club, that is an active member of the New York State Snowmobile Association, you will pay $45 dollars. You don‘t have to be a resident of New York to receive the discount. If you are not a member of a club, it will cost you $100 dollars. Although the state has not provided the paperwork for the clubs to issue to its members, you will receive official paperwork identifying you are a member and you can register every sled in your family at the discounted price. If you wait until the last minute to register your sled, and are not a member of a club, you will not receive the discount and it will cost you $100 per snowmobile.
